Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jhin Markell (ranked 1004 p4p, 127 weight class) and Franky Stanky (ranked 2934 p4p, 328 weight class). Franky Stanky will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stanky rushes Markell and presses him up against the cage.

Stanky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Markell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Markell has control of Stanky's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Stanky regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Markell pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Markell cracks Stanky with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Markell postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Stanky is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Markell, into his guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Markell connects with a nice short shot to Stanky's temple.

Stanky's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Stanky lands a left and a right that send Markell crashing to the mat, dazed. Stanky thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
