Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rob Brooks (ranked 6336 p4p, 0 weight class) and Huseyn Ozdemir (ranked 4896 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rob Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Huseyn Ozdemir!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ozdemir gets a clinch.
Ozdemir is trying to pull guard but Brooks has him pressed against the cage.

Brooks breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Ozdemir gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ozdemir drops down looking for an ankle pick but Brooks pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ozdemir swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Brooks counters by moving into the clinch.
Ozdemir tries to pull guard but Brooks won't allow it.
Rob Brooks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Huseyn Ozdemir.
Ozdemir jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Brooks walks away with a smile on his face. Ozdemir gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ozdemir has Brooks pressed against the cage, preventing Brooks from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Brooks is trying to push Ozdemir away but Ozdemir has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Ozdemir has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brooks uses from the top position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ozdemir holds on and takes a little breather.

Brooks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ozdemir is looking for a triangle but Brooks pushes his legs off easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brooks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ozdemir tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brooks swivels and escapes.
Brooks is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ozdemir.
Ozdemir shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Brooks counters with a left to the body.

That's time! Brooks's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Ozdemir fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Brooks to the ground. Ozdemir is now in Brooks's guard.

Ozdemir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brooks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ozdemir not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Brooks is trying to control the position but Ozdemir postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ozdemir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brooks's waist but Brooks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ozdemir off to one side.
Brooks is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ozdemir.
Ozdemir is breathing heavily.
Brooks swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and Ozdemir counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Brooks looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ozdemir puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ozdemir tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brooks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ozdemir wants to get back to his feet.
Brooks wants to improve his position but Ozdemir is controlling well.
Ozdemir thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brooks's head.

Ozdemir is trying to control. Brooks wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Ozdemir is working for a kimura but Brooks is defending it quite comfortably.

Ozdemir decides to return to a standing position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ozdemir decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Brooks slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Huseyn Ozdemir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


A head kick by Ozdemir misses
and Brooks counters with a nice body shot.
Brooks lands with a hook. Ozdemir tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Brooks misses the shot to the body.
Ozdemir tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Brooks throws a body punch but Ozdemir moves out of range.

Brooks gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ozdemir postures up in Brooks's guard and throws a big left but Brooks blocks it.

The crowd cheers as Brooks lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ozdemir doesn't seem phased though.
Ozdemir misses with a two punch combination.

Ozdemir closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Brooks quickly recovers to half guard.
Ozdemir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ozdemir trying to mount his opponent but Brooks defends it.

Ozdemir throws an elbow that misses. Brooks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ozdemir's guard. Nice move by Brooks!

Brooks postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Brooks trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ozdemir's guard.
Brooks wants to stand and escape but instead Ozdemir has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ozdemir is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Brooks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ozdemir has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Brooks is proving hard to escape from.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Brooks can't keep his opponent in guard - Ozdemir advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

I think Ozdemir has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Huseyn Ozdemir rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
