PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sherk has chosen Sean Sherk Entrance as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sean Sherk!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherk missing with a left hand there. Frost was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nice takedown defense from Sherk. No joy for Frost on that attempt.

Sherk clinches up against the ropes.
Sherk lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Frost blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Frost jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sherk walks away with a smile on his face. Frost gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Sherk closes the distance and clinches.
Sherk throws a head punch that misses.
A short uppercut from Sherk.
Sherk lands with a left to the head.
Sherk swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Sherk makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Sherk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Frost defending well as Sherk loads up on a big left hand.
Sherk misses with a hook.
Sherk throws a nice looking combination but Frost bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sherk thows a body shot but no joy.

Sherk clinches up with Frost and pushes him back against the ropes.
Sherk is stalling here.
Frost blocking some punches.

Frost jumps guard and drags Sherk to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Sherk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sherk tries to stand but Frost is controlling from the bottom.
Sherk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frost swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Sherk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Sherk seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sean Sherk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Frost is rocked!
Sherk grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Frost takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Sherk cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
