Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Hooper (ranked 4536 p4p, 450 weight class) and Sakuma Yanagamichi (ranked 3649 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Sakuma Yanagamichi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sakuma Yanagamichi!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yanagamichi with a poor takedown
and Hooper counters with a nice uppercut.
Yanagamichi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hooper is fending him off so far but Yanagamichi persists. Nope, Hooper circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Hooper was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Hooper defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yanagamichi.
Danny Hooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sakuma Yanagamichi.

Yanagamichi throws an elbow that misses. Hooper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Yanagamichi's guard. Nice move by Hooper!


Yanagamichi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hooper defends well.

Hooper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yanagamichi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hooper has managed to get both his arms back between Yanagamichi's legs - danger averted.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yanagamichi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Yanagamichi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Yanagamichi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hooper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Yanagamichi is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hooper throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Yanagamichi's body to avoid the submission. Yanagamichi has instead reached around Hooper's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Yanagamichi arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Sakuma Yanagamichi!
