Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Barrigudo Do Arrocha!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hoover rushes Do Arrocha and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hoover could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hoover pulls guard successfully.
Do Arrocha engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Do Arrocha trying to control but Hoover is working from the bottom.
Do Arrocha is fighting to break Hoover's control of his arms but Hoover is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hoover wants to get back to his feet but Do Arrocha is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Do Arrocha controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Do Arrocha slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Do Arrocha blocks a head kick by Hoover.
A nice side step and Do Arrocha releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Hoover gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hoover has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Do Arrocha uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Do Arrocha content to stall in guard here.
Hoover pulls Do Arrocha in close to his closed guard and prevents Do Arrocha from doing any damage or advancing position.

Hoover is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Do Arrocha slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Hoover tries to bench press Do Arrocha off him but Do Arrocha keeps the position.

Hoover is not content to let Do Arrocha control the position.
Hoover is looking for a sweep.
Do Arrocha advances to mount.
Hoover is squirming around, avoiding Do Arrocha's attempts to control the action.
Do Arrocha controlling his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Do Arrocha working for a submission but Hoover is keeping him at bay.
Hoover tries to hold on but Do Arrocha pushes him away.

Hoover defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Do Arrocha.

Do Arrocha swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hoover is now in Do Arrocha's guard. A big mistake from Do Arrocha there, giving up the dominant position!
Hoover wants to pass the guard but Do Arrocha is keeping the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hoover is fighting to break Do Arrocha's control of his arms but Do Arrocha is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lindsey Hoover will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hoover closes the distance and pushes Do Arrocha back into the cage.

Hoover works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Do Arrocha is pulling down on Hoover's head. It's preventing any offense from Hoover, at least for the moment.
Lindsey Hoover overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hoover trying to control the position from guard on top but Do Arrocha is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hoover has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hoover is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Do Arrocha has his hands on Hoover's head, controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hoover clinches up against the cage.
Hoover is trying to break the clinch but Do Arrocha is controlling him.
Hoover tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Do Arrocha smiles and moves away.

Hoover forces Do Arrocha back against the cage and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hoover pulls Do Arrocha into guard.
Hoover pulls Do Arrocha in to control the position.
Do Arrocha passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hoover struggling a bit here.

Do Arrocha thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Do Arrocha is working to tighten his grip on Hoover's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hoover has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Do Arrocha is really squeezing tight and eventually Hoover passes out! Do Arrocha breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
