PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Benchamek Sitsopirang (ranked 3775 p4p, 373 weight class) and Ben Ruckus (ranked 24475 p4p, 535 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Benchamek Sitsopirang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Ruckus!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sitsopirang keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ruckus lands with a right hand.
Sitsopirang stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sitsopirang wants it to stay on the feet.

Sitsopirang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sitsopirang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruckus on the ground.
Sitsopirang is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sitsopirang wanted to stand there but Ruckus had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sitsopirang is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sitsopirang is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sitsopirang postures up in Ruckus's guard and throws a big left but Ruckus blocks it.
Ruckus has momentary wrist control but Sitsopirang slips an elbow through the middle.

Sitsopirang is looking to work some ground and pound but Ruckus has wrist control.
Sitsopirang sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Ruckus trying to keep a closed guard but Sitsopirang is proving a slippery customer.
Sitsopirang with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sitsopirang slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sitsopirang is in close to Ruckus's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Sitsopirang throwing strikes from guard but Ruckus blocks nicely.
Ruckus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ruckus utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ruckus is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sitsopirang definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ruckus wants to stand up but Sitsopirang is controlling him.
Sitsopirang is stalling in the full guard.

Ruckus working for a triangle but Sitsopirang defends it easily.
Sitsopirang postures up in Ruckus's guard and throws a big left but Ruckus blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benchamek Sitsopirang dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sitsopirang tests Ruckus's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Sitsopirang lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Ben Ruckus has been cut.
Ruckus throws a head kick that misses.
Sitsopirang thuds a left hand into Ruckus's body.
Sitsopirang circles away from the clinch attempt.

Sitsopirang closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ruckus prevents Sitsopirang from improving position.
Sitsopirang connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ruckus some visible discomfort.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ruckus tries to buck Sitsopirang off but Sitsopirang is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Ruckus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sitsopirang is chipping away with strikes.

Sitsopirang is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ruckus can do to turn this around?
Ruckus is pushing Sitsopirang's head away, looking to escape. Sitsopirang manages to hold on to the position though.
Ruckus is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Sitsopirang thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sitsopirang in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Sitsopirang is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ruckus is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We've been informed that Ruckus has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ruckus on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Ruckus is trying to control Sitsopirang's posture but Sitsopirang avoids it.

That has opened up Ben Ruckus's cut even more.
Ruckus wants to control but Sitsopirang postures up.
Sitsopirang misses with the ground and pound.
Ruckus is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Sitsopirang is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benchamek Sitsopirang dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Ben Ruckus's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Sitsopirang takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Sitsopirang fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ruckus, pushing him back against the cage.

Sitsopirang ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sitsopirang no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Sitsopirang has Ruckus pulled in close to control his posture.
Sitsopirang continues to stall.
Sitsopirang is looking to stand up but Ruckus isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sitsopirang looking for a guillotine here but Ruckus defends easily.
Sitsopirang seems keen to control Ruckus's posture.

Ruckus advances position into side control!
Ruckus trying to control the position but Sitsopirang is working away.
Ruckus tries to advance to mount but Sitsopirang denies him.

Ruckus working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sitsopirang on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sitsopirang tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sitsopirang is looking for a sweep.
Ruckus tries to score with some ground and pound. Sitsopirang controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Sitsopirang is trying to control Ruckus's posture but Ruckus avoids it.
Benchamek Sitsopirang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
What's Sitsopirang going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ben Ruckus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Benchamek Sitsopirang is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Benchamek Sitsopirang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sitsopirang shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ruckus napping and manages to drive through into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Benchamek Sitsopirang.
Well Sitsopirang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
