Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergej Nurgay!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atkinson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nurgay sprawls well. Nurgay wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Atkinson gets slowly back to his feet.
Sergej Nurgay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Atkinson blocks a head kick by Nurgay.

Nurgay closes the distance and clinches.
Nurgay tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Atkinson smiles and moves away.

Atkinson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Atkinson wants to control the position but Nurgay says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Nurgay tries to close the distance and clinch but Atkinson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A little feinted left hand from Atkinson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Nurgay goes for a double leg but Atkinson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Atkinson continues to drive forward.

Atkinson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nurgay but Nurgay pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nurgay throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Atkinson shoots in but Nurgay avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nurgay tries a low kick but Atkinson avoids it.
Atkinson is looking to counter the offense by Nurgay and move into the clinch.

Atkinson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Atkinson manages to end up in side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Atkinson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nurgay, who protects the arm well.
Nurgay is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Atkinson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Nurgay is looking for a sweep.

Atkinson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Atkinson clinches up with Nurgay and pushes him back against the cage.

Nurgay tightens his grip and picks Atkinson up, before dumping him to the ground. Atkinson manages to land in guard.

and Atkinson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Atkinson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nurgay sprawls well initially but Atkinson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Nurgay shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Atkinson as he jumps to the side.

Nurgay drops back, looking for a kneebar! Atkinson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Atkinson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Atkinson!
