Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darrin Vaughn (ranked 23975 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jinsun Kang (ranked 5297 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darrin Vaughn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jinsun Kang!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang doesn't manage to clinch there - Vaughn circles away.
Vaughn wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kang tries to clinch up
and Vaughn counters with a series of strikes. Kang will be more careful next time no doubt.

Kang drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Vaughn sneaks out the side door and pushes Kang away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
A head kick misses from Kang.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kang lands in his opponent's guard.
Vaughn is controlling Kang's posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vaughn keeping moving, preventing Kang from controlling successfully.
Kang stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vaughn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vaughn controlling the position.
Kang trying to control the position from guard on top but Vaughn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Vaughn is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Vaughn shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Vaughn gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Kang connects with a right hand. Vaughn shakes it off.

Kang scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Vaughn is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vaughn moves into full guard.

Kang stopping the sweep attempt from Vaughn.
Vaughn keeping moving, preventing Kang from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vaughn is on top in guard.


Kang has his foot on Vaughn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vaughn works his way back into a safe position though.

Vaughn drops back looking for a leg! Kang is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kang manages to kick Vaughn off! Vaughn jumps back into Kang's guard.

Vaughn is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Vaughn gets to his feet. Kang looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kang gets a double leg takedown into Vaughn's guard.

Vaughn pushes Kang off and gets back to his feet.
Kang looks winded!

Kang shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vaughn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darrin Vaughn dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kang scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Vaughn doesn't seem bothered though.

Vaughn changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kang looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kang bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Kang darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kang wants to stand up but Vaughn has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Vaughn holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Vaughn slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Vaughn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kang is one step ahead there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vaughn is on top in guard.


Kang is working an open guard so Vaughn takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kang tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vaughn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kang tries to clinch but Vaughn is having none of it.

Vaughn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Darrin Vaughn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Vaughn would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Kang doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Kang controls Vaughn momentarily but Vaughn frees himself.

Vaughn gets to his feet. Kang looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kang goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Vaughn shoots in and gets a takedown into Kang's guard.
Kang is breathing heavily.

Kang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vaughn is aware though and is defending well.

Vaughn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Vaughn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kang is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vaughn, into his guard.

Kang gets to his feet. Vaughn looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kang has Vaughn up against the cage in a clinch.

Kang jumps guard.
Kang looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vaughn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Kang gets a takedown into half guard.

Vaughn manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Kang keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jinsun Kang will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Vaughn shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Vaughn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kang is looking for a sweep. Vaughn is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vaughn scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Vaughn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kang defends it well.

Vaughn is working for an americana but Kang has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Vaughn was thinking about the submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vaughn drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kang dives on top into guard.

Vaughn is pulling down on Kang's head to control his posture.

Vaughn continues to stall.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kang stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vaughn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vaughn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kang is one step ahead there.
Kang is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Vaughn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kang is fighting to break Vaughn's control of his arms but Vaughn is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Kang stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Vaughn has closed the distance and engaged Kang in a clinch.

Kang jumps into guard, dragging Vaughn to the mat.
Vaughn is looking to stand up but Kang won't let him.
Kang looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vaughn is one step ahead there.

Vaughn stands and steps away. Kang gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Kang doesn't manage to clinch there - Vaughn circles away.
Vaughn is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Vaughn on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Vaughn fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kang, pushing him back against the cage.

Kang pulls guard successfully.
Vaughn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Vaughn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Vaughn controlling from the top position.
Vaughn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Kang wants to sweep here but Vaughn controlling him for the moment.

Vaughn shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Kang dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Vaughn dives in and scores a takedown into Kang's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Darrin Vaughn.
I think Vaughn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
