Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deshawn Perrez (ranked 3591 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakkamunoi Phouthong (ranked 4509 p4p, 441 weight class). Hakkamunoi Phouthong will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hakkamunoi Phouthong!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perrez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Phouthong looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Perrez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Perrez showed some decent athleticism there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Perrez connects with a nice short shot to Phouthong's temple.
Phouthong is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Perrez scores with a couple of nice shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perrez prevents Phouthong from standing back up.

Perrez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Phouthong on the ground.
Perrez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Perrez scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Perrez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Phouthong with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Phouthong is still in real trouble! Can Perrez finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Perrez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Phouthong has hold of Perrez's hands but Perrez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Perrez winds up and cracks Phouthong with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Perrez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Phouthong is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Perrez scores with a couple of nice shots.
Perrez scores with a big shot! Phouthong's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Phouthong! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Deshawn Perrez!
