PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sargeant Cobra (ranked 22065 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Patterson (ranked 21861 p4p, 0 weight class). Cobra's entrance music is Cobra. A fine choice. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jack Patterson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Sargeant Cobra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Patterson!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cobra gets a takedown into half guard.
Patterson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Cobra manages to move to mount!
Cobra looking to control and managing it successfully.
Patterson tries to lock up and control but Cobra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Cobra lands a big elbow.
Cobra tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Cobra landing punches.
Patterson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Patterson wants to improve his position but Cobra is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cobra seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cobra in particular looking to stall.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cobra lands a nice short elbow.

Cobra is working for a kimura but Patterson is defending it quite comfortably.

Cobra is nestled in close to Patterson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cobra wants to work for an arm triangle but Patterson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cobra is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cobra throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Cobra performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Cobra prevents Patterson from improving his position.
Cobra seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Cobra decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Cobra darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Patterson is trying to escape back to his feet but Cobra uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Cobra looks up at the clock and then as Patterson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cobra smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cobra controls the position from side control.

Cobra decides to stand up, so the ref orders Patterson to his feet.

Patterson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cobra manages to pass to side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Well, if Cobra is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Cobra gets the takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patterson is trying to improve his position.
Patterson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Cobra is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Patterson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cobra stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Cobra closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cobra lands in his opponent's guard.

Cobra content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Patterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sargeant Cobra overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cobra passes into half guard.
Cobra is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cobra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Patterson trying to control from the bottom.
Cobra is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Patterson!
Cobra is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Patterson can do to turn this around?
Cobra takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Patterson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cobra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Patterson tries to lock up and control but Cobra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cobra cracks Patterson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Cobra! Patterson is hurt baaadly! Cobra is firing away with more strikes - Patterson is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sargeant Cobra!
