Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Zappa (ranked 3573 p4p, 314 weight class) and Peter Parker (ranked 5331 p4p, 355 weight class). The key to victory for Ryan Zappa has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Zappa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Parker!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zappa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Parker to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Parker tries to free his leg and advance position but Zappa is retaining full guard.
Zappa is controlling Parker's posture.
Zappa looking to control.

Parker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Zappa pushes Parker off and scrambles back to his feet.
Zappa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Zappa wants it to stay on the feet.
Zappa throws a body kick that misses

and Parker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zappa won't be happy with that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Parker looks up at the clock and then as Zappa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Parker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Zappa is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Parker in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Zappa tries to buck Parker off but Parker is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zappa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Parker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zappa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Parker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zappa keeps working.

Parker throws a strike aimed at the side of Zappa's head but Zappa avoids it well.

Parker shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Parker was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Zappa will probably get the nod.

Parker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zappa is fending him off so far but Parker persists. Nope, Zappa circles away and we're back to standing.

Zappa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Parker uses from the top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Parker closes the distance but Zappa moves to the side
and Zappa counters with a nice body shot.
Zappa misses with a takedown attempt - Parker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Parker's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Zappa connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Parker scrambles back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ryan Zappa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Zappa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Parker pulls Zappa in close to his closed guard and prevents Zappa from doing any damage or advancing position.
Zappa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Parker controls Zappa momentarily but Zappa frees himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Peter Parker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ryan Zappa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Parker closes the distance and clinches up with Zappa, looking for a takedown. Parker pushes Zappa against the cage but Zappa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryan Zappa showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Zappa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
