Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Olen Curry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ikehara Washi!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curry fails to land the takedown.

Curry moves into the clinch.
Curry tries to pull guard but Washi holds him up against the cage and eventually Curry drops back down to his feet.
Washi manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Curry is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Olen Curry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Curry is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Washi pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Curry on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Curry tries to score a body lock takedown but Washi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Washi manages to pull guard.
Curry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Curry controlling from the top position.
Washi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Curry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Curry is fighting to break Washi's control of his arms but Washi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Curry won't allow Washi to sweep him here.
Curry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Washi manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Washi fails to pull guard.

Curry has hold of one of Washi's legs. Washi is fighting the takedown attempt but Curry gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Curry avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Curry drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Curry seems to have locked his on tight now - Washi screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Curry, as he picks up the win!
