PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anti Happy (ranked 4861 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Specht (ranked 4286 p4p, 0 weight class). Specht is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: blablabla. Ken Specht is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anti Happy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Specht!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Specht throws a head kick that misses.
Specht fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Happy avoids it really well and circles away.
Specht connects with a leg kick. Happy looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Happy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Specht.
Specht tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Happy paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Specht throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Specht is trying hard to land a takedown here. Happy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Happy throwing a counter right hand but Specht manages to avoid it.
Anti Happy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Specht.
Specht stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Specht wants it to stay on the feet.
Specht fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Happy attempts a counter takedown but Specht avoids it well and moves away.

Happy shoots in for a takedown but Specht shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Happy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Specht.

Happy shoots in and gets a takedown into Specht's guard.
Happy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Specht is keeping the position for now.

Happy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Happy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Happy is looking to stand up but Specht won't let him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Happy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Happy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Specht manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Happy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Specht has a closed guard, preventing Happy from standing up.
Specht wants to stand and escape but Happy is having none of it.
Specht avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Specht utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've been informed that Specht has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Happy sitting in guard here, content to control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Specht fails with the takedown.
Specht tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Happy defends well and Specht ends up having to push Happy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Specht is trying hard to land a takedown here. Happy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Happy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Specht napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Happy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Happy working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anti Happy dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Happy.

Happy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Specht was covering up waiting for the punch and Happy finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Happy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Happy stands up and waves to Specht to follow him.
Specht tries to close the distance and clinch but Happy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A counter left hand to the body from Happy misses its target.
Specht fails with the takedown.
Happy tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Specht manages to circle out of the way.
Specht is breathing heavily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Specht. Happy shrugs it off though.
Happy throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Specht stuffs the takedown.
Happy throws a combination that misses
and Specht counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Happy leaves Specht with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Anti Happy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Specht shoots in looking for a takedown. Happy tries to sprawl out of it but Specht keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Happy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Happy appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Anti Happy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Specht.
Specht looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Nice sprawl there from Happy as Specht shoots in.

Happy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Specht quickly recovers to half guard.
Happy lands with a punch from half guard.
Happy with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Happy moves into full mount! Specht won't be happy about that!

Happy working for a guillotine from mount but Specht is in no mood to give up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Happy lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Happy controlling the pace for now.

Happy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Happy is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Specht is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Specht flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Happy anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Specht and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Happy slips an arm under Specht chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Happy has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Happy is squeezing on Specht like an anaconda would it's prey. Specht fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Anti Happy!
Anti Happy tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
