Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel King (ranked 5615 p4p, 465 weight class) and Paul Rabbitte (ranked 3756 p4p, 402 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Rabbitte!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rabbitte darts in trying to clinch
and Rabbitte takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Paul Rabbitte has been cut.
Rabbitte shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says King as he avoids it easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from King, right into the meat.

King bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
King in side control, just content to control the action for now.
King's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rabbitte prevents King from moving into mount.
King slows the pace down.
Rabbitte looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Further stalling from King.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because King is stinking the place up with his stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rabbitte fails with the takedown.
Daniel King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Rabbitte.
Rabbitte gets cracked with a nice right hand there by King.
King ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Rabbitte tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Rabbitte stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from King.
King fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rabbitte on the side of the head.
King scores with a body shot.
King scores with a hook to the body. Rabbitte takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
King jabs Rabbitte to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Rabbitte takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Nice uppercut there from King.

Rabbitte pushes King up against the cage in a clinch.
King prevents the takedown attempt.
Rabbitte looks winded!
Rabbitte can't get the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
King lands a body punch in the clinch.

King manages to break the clinch.
Rabbitte on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by King. King obviously looking to wear him down.
King bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
King scores with a body shot.

King shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
King perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
King has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel King dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Paul Rabbitte's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rabbitte takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
King throws a nice inside leg kick.
Rabbitte walks into a left hand.
King lands a really nice looking cross but Rabbitte seems unphased.
Rabbitte tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but King paws at him with a jab and circles away.
King is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rabbitte can do to turn this around?
King scores with a nice right hand.


That has opened up Paul Rabbitte's cut even more.
King connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rabbitte. Rabbitte circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
King bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rabbitte's head.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rabbitte looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King lands a right hand.
King lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Rabbitte has had enough of the clinch but King keeps him there for the moment.

King breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rabbitte walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rabbitte takes one on the button.
King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd cheers as King lands an impressive looking overhand right. Rabbitte doesn't seem phased though.
King fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
King connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.


Rabbitte is rocked!
Rabbitte looks up at the clock. Bad move! King lands a right hand from hell, dropping Rabbitte. King pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel King!
