PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Prince Tonni (ranked 2856 p4p, 317 weight class) and Hitori Hanzo (ranked 4585 p4p, 418 weight class). Hanzo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Last Caress by The Misfits. Prince Tonni had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. On his way into the cage it seems that Prince Tonni has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Prince Tonni seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanzo takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Hanzo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tonni throws out the jab.
Hanzo shoots in but Tonni avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hanzo gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Tonni.
Hanzo moves out of range of the leg kick from Tonni.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Hanzo wants to counter the offense by Tonni and move into the clinch position.
Hanzo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Hanzo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hanzo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hanzo tries to free his leg and advance position but Tonni is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hanzo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Tonni is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hanzo is controlling him.

Hanzo throws a big right hand that misses.
Hanzo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tonni's head.
Tonni knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hanzo on the ground.

Tonni seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tonni on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tonni tries to get out of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hitori Hanzo dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hanzo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hanzo lands in his opponent's guard.
Tonni wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Hanzo manages to pass to side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hanzo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Oh Tonni is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hanzo scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Tonni is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hanzo can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
