The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spence rushes Hammer and presses him up against the cage.
Hammer looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Hammer throws an elbow that misses.
Spence tries to pull guard but Hammer holds him up against the cage and eventually Spence drops back down to his feet.
Spence fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hammer goes for a takedown attempt but Spence pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hammer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hammer tries to pull guard but Spence won't allow it.

Spence gets control of Hammer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Spence will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Spence manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Hammer is trying to pull guard but Spence turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Reynaldo Spence has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Hammer.

Hammer tries to pull guard but Spence won't allow it.
Spence could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Spence manages to break the clinch.
Hammer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Spence gets a clinch.
Spence keeps control of Hammer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Spence pulls Hammer into guard.
Spence trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Hammer wanted to stand there but Spence had control of the position.
Spence manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hammer manages to get himself to full guard.

Spence decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hammer, up you get!

Spence passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Spence is chipping away with strikes.
You can see the frustration on Hammer's face as Spence controls the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Spence's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Spence tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Spence works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Spence staying calm.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Spence is working to tighten his grip on Hammer's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hammer has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Spence is really squeezing tight and eventually Hammer passes out! Spence breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
