Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimi Powell (ranked 1052 p4p, 54 weight class) and Remy Valentine (ranked 706 p4p, 35 weight class). Powell comes to the cage accompanied by 8 Mile. Valentine has chosen Man with the Harmonica by Ennio Morricone as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Powell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Valentine sprawls well initially but Powell persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Valentine told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Powell shoots in looking for a takedown. Valentine tries to sprawl out of it but Powell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Valentine manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Powell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Valentine as he jumps to the side.
Powell shoots in and drives through. Valentine sprawls well.
Valentine swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimi Powell. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Powell dives in and scores a takedown into Valentine's guard.

and Valentine counters with a crisp right hand that drops Powell! Valentine lets Powell back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Powell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Valentine pinned against the cage. Valentine gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Valentine cracks Powell with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Valentine has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Powell to stand back up!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Powell shoots in for a takedown but Valentine shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Valentine swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Powell appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Valentine throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Valentine lands a big uppercut and Powell crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Powell looks OK. Valentine waves Powell back to his feet!
