Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kris Kobbler (ranked 4421 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Brockington (ranked 6100 p4p, 0 weight class). Kris Kobbler has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kris Kobbler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Brockington!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brockington walks into a jab.
Kobbler throws a lazy body kick

and Brockington counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kobbler is looking to get back to is feet but Brockington passes into side control.
The ground and pound from Brockington seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Kobbler prevents Brockington from improving position.

Brockington tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brockington has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kobbler is looking to reverse the position.

Brockington is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kobbler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Brockington controls the position from side control.

Brockington is trying to get an arm triangle but Kobbler is defending well.
Brockington wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kobbler keeps working.
Brockington lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Brockington has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Brockington trying to control but Kobbler is having none of it.

The referee warns Kobbler that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Brockington working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brockington is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kobbler has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brockington is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Kobbler is breathing heavily.

Kobbler lands a head kick. Brockington smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Brockington is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kobbler sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kobbler looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Kris Kobbler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Brockington.
Brockington shoots in looking for a takedown. Kobbler tries to sprawl out of it but Brockington keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kobbler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kobbler changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Brockington tries to sprawl but Kobbler drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Brockington has one foot on Kobbler's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kobbler closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kobbler lands in his opponent's guard.

Brockington kicks Kobbler off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Brockington dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Brockington shoots in but Kobbler avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kobbler tries to counter by clinching up but Brockington breaks away and moves out of range.

Kobbler closes the distance and pushes Brockington back into the cage.
Brockington has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kobbler after a bit of a struggle.
Brockington changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kobbler fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kris Kobbler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Brockington.

Kobbler shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brockington's guard.
Brockington is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kobbler dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kobbler slows the pace down.
Kobbler wants to control but Brockington is keeping him busy.
Kobbler moves into full mount!

Brockington bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brockington throws an elbow that misses. Kobbler uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brockington's guard. Nice move by Kobbler!

Brockington tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kobbler wants to stand but Brockington has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kobbler avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Brockington looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Brockington is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Brockington looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kobbler passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kris Kobbler will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Brockington shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kobbler looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Brockington!

Kobbler has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Brockington pushes Kobbler off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kris Kobbler.
I think Kobbler has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
