The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potter misses with a few strikes there.
Potter connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Potter throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Alexander Potter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Johnson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Potter has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Potter and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Potter goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Potter is trying to push Johnson away but Johnson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Potter has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Johnson is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Potter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Johnson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Potter tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A little feinted left hand from Johnson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Potter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Johnson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Potter lunges at Johnson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Johnson's hand.
Potter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away.
Johnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
