The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Vilheimshaugen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gomez counters with a nice uppercut.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Vilheimshaugen tries to score a body lock takedown but Gomez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A right handed body shot lands from Gomez.

Gomez crunches a lovely knee into Vilheimshaugen's ribcage.
Vilheimshaugen wants to take the fight to the mat but Gomez manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

and Gomez counters with a straight right hand.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gomez lands an elbow just above Vilheimshaugen 's eye.

Gomez manages to break the clinch.
Gomez bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Vilheimshaugen's head.

and Gomez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gundro Vilheimshaugen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gomez is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Gomez fakes the leg kick and cracks Vilheimshaugen in the body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Vilheimshaugen crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gomez - the referee stops the clock and Vilheimshaugen gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gomez. Vilheimshaugen manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Vilheimshaugen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gomez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vilheimshaugen somewhat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gomez feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Vilheimshaugens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vilheimshaugen moves forwards but Gomez connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Vilheimshaugen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gomez napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Vilheimshaugen sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Gomez is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Gomez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Vilheimshaugen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
