Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gubas instigates a clinch.
Cross has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gubas avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Cross.

Gubas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cross looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cross looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cross!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cross thows a huge punch but Gubas dodges it nicely.
Gubas is looking for a sweep. Cross is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cross is stalling here. Gubas is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Cross seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gubas has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Cross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cross drops back looking for a leg! Gubas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gubas manages to kick Cross off! Cross jumps back into Gubas's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gubas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cross is trying to defend but Gubas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gubas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cross. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gubas sneaks out the side door and pushes Cross away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Gubas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cross manages to avoid it.
Gubas tries to close the distance and clinch but Cross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cross seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Gubas takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Cross pushes Gubas up against the cage in a clinch.
Cross is trying to drag Gubas to the mat but Gubas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cross tries a knee to the head but Gubas blocks it.
Cross tries to pull guard but Gubas holds him up against the cage and eventually Cross drops back down to his feet.

Gubas has Cross pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Gubas pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cross tumbling to the mat - Gubas dives into Cross's guard.

Cross has his feet on Gubas's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Gubas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Gubas misses with a hook. Cross ducked under it nicely.
Cross is looking for a counter combo.
Gubas throws a low kick, looking for Cross's leg but Cross calmly moves out of range.
Cross tries to counter by clinching up but Gubas breaks away and moves out of range.

Gubas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cross tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gubas is in Cross's guard.

Cross pushes Gubas off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Hubert Gubas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gubas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cross pushes Gubas off and gets back to his feet.
Gubas tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cross manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cross, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
