The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vernon misses with a hook to the body
and Johnson counters with a straight right hand.
Vernon stuffs the takedown.
Forrest Vernon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vernon digs a good body shot into Johnson's ribs.
Vernon scores with a jab to the body.
Johnson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vernon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As Johnson looks to move away, Vernon throws a big counter combo but Johnson just gets out of the way.
A jab lands there for Vernon.

Vernon has taken the fight to the clinch.
Vernon lands a left hand.
Johnson jumps guard but Vernon stands there with Johnson around his waist. Johnson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Johnson manages to break the clinch.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.
Forrest Vernon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boddah Johnson.
Vernon lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vernon jabs Johnson right on the nose. Johnson blinks but takes it well.

Johnson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Vernon backs up against the cage.
Vernon misses with a two punch combination.
Johnson tries to clinch there but Vernon circles away.
Johnson shoots in but Vernon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Vernon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.
Vernon takes a kick to the side of the head.
Vernon lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Johnson dives in for a single leg takedown but Vernon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vernon bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Johnson's head.
Johnson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Vernon misses with a series of wild punches.
Forrest Vernon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Vernon leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Vernon lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Johnson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Johnson plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Johnson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vernon throws out the jab.
Nice shot lands for Vernon.

Johnson is rocked!
Vernon connects with a right that clearly hurt Johnson. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Vernon proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Johnson collapses and taps out under the pressure!
