Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kai Kahale (ranked 7090 p4p, 0 weight class) and Strom Thompson (ranked 7080 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kai Kahale has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kai Kahale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Strom Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thompson has managed to clinch.
Kahale can't get the takedown.

Thompson breaks the clinch.

Kahale has taken the fight to the clinch.
Thompson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Kahale breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kahale is looking to clinch.
Kahale catches Thompson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kahale fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thompson avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thompson forces Kahale back against the cage and clinches.

Kahale pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kahale is working for takedown but Thompson is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kai Kahale. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kahale digs a right hand into Thompson's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Thompson's gas tank.
Kahale looking to stall.
Kahale wants to get back to striking at distance but Thompson won't allow it.

Thompson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kahale regains guard.

Kahale wriggles free and stands up.
Kahale throws a nice looking combination but Thompson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Thompson moves into the clinch.
Thompson misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Thompson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kahale misses with an uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kahale tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Thompson defends well and Kahale ends up having to push Thompson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kahale gets a clinch.
Kahale jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thompson walks away with a smile on his face. Kahale gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Thompson clinches up with Kahale and pushes him back against the cage.
Kahale fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Thompson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Thompson goes for a takedown attempt but Kahale pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Thompson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Thompson tries to stand but Kahale is controlling from the bottom.
Thompson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kahale not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Thompson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Thompson gets a takedown into half guard.
Kahale is looking to get back to is feet but Thompson passes into side control.

Thompson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Kahale is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Thompson yanks on the arm and Kahale is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Thompson.
