Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Duane Cooke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Dyson!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dyson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Dyson is looking to advance position but Cooke won't allow it.
Well, if Dyson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Dyson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dyson wants to free his trapped foot but Cooke is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Dyson works his way into full mount!
Dyson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Cooke is trying to escape the mount.
Dyson lands with some strikes.
Cooke really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dyson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cooke is now in Dyson's guard. A big mistake from Dyson there, giving up the dominant position!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dyson has control of Cooke's left arm, preventing Cooke from doing any damage.
Let's hope that Dyson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Dyson wants to sweep but no luck.
Dyson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dyson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's time! Cooke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cooke stuffs the takedown attempt from Dyson. Dyson gets slowly back to his feet.
Cooke appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Cooke tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dyson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Cooke wants to stand and escape but Dyson is having none of it.

Cooke wants to get back to his feet but Dyson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cooke blocks a head kick by Dyson.

Dyson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dyson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Cooke keeping hold of Dyson's head, controlling as best he can.
Dyson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Dyson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Cooke tries to get to full guard but Dyson has control of the leg.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dyson in particular looking to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Dyson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cooke tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dyson is in Cooke's guard.
Cooke is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Dyson dives into side control.

Dyson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dyson wants to stand but Cooke has his arm trapped.

Cooke is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dyson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Dyson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cooke keeps working.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dyson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cooke has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dyson but great work by Cooke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Lee Dyson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Dyson fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Cooke is out of range.

Cooke shoots for a double leg takedown but Dyson sprawls well. He's pushed Cooke's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lee Dyson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dyson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Dyson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Dyson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cooke defends it easily.
Dyson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cooke wants to stand but Dyson is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dyson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cooke with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Dyson has a closed guard, preventing Cooke from standing up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dyson is adopting a defensive guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dyson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dyson wants to sweep here but Cooke controlling him for the moment.
Dyson wants to stand up but Cooke is controlling him.
Cooke postures up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cooke shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dyson but Dyson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dyson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dyson swings away with a body shot that misses
letting Cooke counter with a right hand.
Dyson fails with a takedown attempt.
Cooke swats away the attempt to clinch by Dyson.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cooke.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duane Cooke. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dyson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dyson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Dyson is just content to waste time from the top position. Cooke takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Dyson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dyson is standing up over Cooke. Cooke looks to escape but Dyson dives into side control.

I would just about give that final round to Lee Dyson.
Well Dyson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
