The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowen fails with a takedown attempt.
Bright throws a lazy body kick

and Bowen counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Bowen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bright fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bowen manages to avoid it.
Bright throws a leg kick but Bowen checks it.
Bowen shoots in but no luck this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bright lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Bright swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bowen.

Bowen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Bright fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bowen, pushing him back against the cage.

Bright breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bright scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bright lets loose with a powerful body kick. Bowen will feel that in the morning.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bright thumps Bowen with a low kick.
Bright connects with a solid leg kick.
Bowen sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Bright moves into the clinch successfully.

It looks like Donte Bowen has been cut.
Bowen on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bright doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Bright gets underhooks to prevent Bowen's takedown attempt.
Bright prevents Bowen from breaking the clinch.

and Bowen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bright won't be happy with that.
Bright wants to get back to his feet but Bowen is dominant here and he's now got Bright's back!
Bright tries to break free.
Bowen is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Bright. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Bowen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Bright looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bowen has the hooks in. Bright is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Bowen is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Bright has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Bowen is trying to stick to Bright's back but Bright is turning into Bowen. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Bowen's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bright.
Bright has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bright is posturing up here but Bowen has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Bright tries to roll out but it's too tight and Bright has to tap! Slick submission there by Bowen!
