PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lorenzo Turturro (ranked 1341 p4p, 185 weight class) and Carl Moore (ranked 1429 p4p, 195 weight class). Moore is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sad Man's Tongue by Volbeat. Lorenzo Turturro could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Carl Moore's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lorenzo Turturro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Moore!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Turturro.
Turturro with a jab.


It looks like Carl Moore has been cut.
Moore misses with a few strikes there.
Turturro misses with an uppercut. Moore saw that one coming.
Turturro throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Moore stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Turturro defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Moore.
Moore throws a hook but Turturro avoids it easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Turturro misses the target.
Turturro moves out of range of the strikes.
Moore changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Turturro tries to avoid it but Moore manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Turturro to the ground. Turturro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Moore shoots in and bounces Turturro off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Turturro is looking to stand up but Moore isn't so interested in that idea.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Turturro manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Turturro's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Moore closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Turturro makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Turturro takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A big left from Moore misses.

Turturro cracks Moore with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Turturro has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Moore to stand back up!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Moore fails with the takedown.
Lorenzo Turturro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Moore.
Moore looks to land a right hand but Turturro moved out of range.
Turturro is looking to counter punch.
Turturro jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Moore throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Turturro tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Moore is in Turturro's guard.
Turturro is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Moore trying to control but Turturro is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Turturro is looking to stand up but Moore isn't so interested in that idea.
Moore in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Moore cracks Turturro with a solid left hand.
Turturro wants to stand but Moore is controlling the position.
Moore pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turturro is keeping the position for now.
Moore controlling from the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moore wants to pass the guard but Turturro is keeping the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Moore has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A looping hook to the body misses from Turturro. Moore does a little dance to reset his feet.
Turturro checks a leg kick.
Moore misses with an uppercut. Turturro saw that one coming.
Moore shoots in looking for a takedown. Turturro tries to sprawl out of it but Moore keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Turturro manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Turturro pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Moore misses with a takedown attempt - Turturro sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Moore uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Turturro.

Turturro feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Moore sprawling to the canvas! Moore rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Turturro finish him?!


Moore is rocked!
Turturro misses with a looping right.
Moore is still on wobbly legs! Can Turturro finish him?
Moore gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Turturro gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lorenzo Turturro!
After the fight, Lorenzo Turturro was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
Carl Moore spoke after the fight, saying 'No one likes seeing their opponent's hand raised, but that just means that they were the better man today. My team at 3Band MMA and I will break down this match and make the proper changes for my next camp.'.
