Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Leeds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Patrick Smith!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with an uppercut. Leeds saw that one coming.
Smith avoids the head kick by Leeds.
Smith keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Smith misses the jab.
Smith throws a lazy right hand but Leeds sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Leeds rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Smith wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Leeds breaks the clinch.
Smith closes the distance looking to clinch

and Leeds counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Leeds.
Smith is trying to break the clinch but Leeds has him pressed against the cage.

Leeds breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leeds moves out of range of the strikes.

Leeds scores a takedown into full mount!
Leeds controlling from mount.

Smith is desperately trying to improve his position but Leeds has a good base and remains in mount.
Leeds controlling from the full mount.
Leeds has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Smith is trying to escape the mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smith tries to hold on but Leeds postures up.
Smith is in all sorts of trouble here.
Leeds looking to control and managing it successfully.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Michael Leeds just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Smith looks to land a left hand but Leeds moved out of range nicely.
Leeds slips a jab from Smith.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Leeds.
A big right from Smith misses.
Smith paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Leeds shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Smith misses with a combination

and Leeds counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.
Smith is looking to regain half guard here but Leeds keeps moving and retains side control.
Smith can't do much from the bottom here.
Leeds trying to control the position but Smith is working away.

Smith tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Leeds takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Leeds takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smith tries to lock up and control but Leeds gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Leeds tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Smith is wriggling around trying to escape.
Leeds controlling from mount.
Leeds's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Leeds prevents Smith from getting the reversal.
Leeds sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Michael Leeds just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Smith tries to clinch

so Leeds counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Leeds looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Leeds's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Leeds slips under a jab.

Leeds changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Smith is looking for a sweep.
Smith is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Leeds wants to stand up but Smith is controlling the position.

Leeds decides to return to a standing position.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Leeds circles away from the clinch attempt

and Leeds counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Leeds is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Leeds decides to stand back up. Leeds steps back and let's Smith get back to his feet.
A big left from Smith misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Smith misses the target.
The crowd cheers as Smith lands an impressive looking overhand right. Leeds doesn't seem phased though.
Smith scores with a decent looking hook.
Michael Leeds is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Leeds displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.
Smith throws an overhand right that lands on Leeds's shoulder, as Leeds tries to avoid the shot.

Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Smith missing with a left hand there. Leeds was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smith throws a sloppy body shot
enabling Leeds to counter with a crisp jab.
Leeds closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Smith scores with a jab to the jaw.
Smith throws a combination that misses

and Leeds counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith tries to buck Leeds off but Leeds is having none of it.
Leeds staying calm.

Leeds decides to stand up, so the ref orders Smith to his feet.
Patrick Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Leeds shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Smith has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Leeds has passed into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Leeds showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Leeds, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
