PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sul Duk Hjung (ranked 2232 p4p, 224 weight class) and Ru Shi Wu Cao (ranked 2196 p4p, 220 weight class). Hjung comes to the cage accompanied by Korean National Anthem. Ru Shi Wu Cao has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hjung moves into range and clinches up with Wu Cao.

Hjung manages to break the clinch.
Hjung goes for a double leg but Wu Cao avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wu Cao continues to drive forward.
A nice side step and Wu Cao releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Wu Cao looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Wu Cao wants a takedown but no success here.

Hjung has Wu Cao pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hjung pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wu Cao tumbling to the mat - Hjung dives into Wu Cao's guard.
Hjung postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Hjung thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wu Cao is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hjung tries to roll over but Wu Cao keeps him under control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hjung throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Hjung wants to improve his position but Wu Cao is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hjung is trying to maintain the position but Wu Cao is very close to passing his half guard.
Hjung has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hjung is staying active underneath Wu Cao, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
