Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cleon Wright (ranked 1028 p4p, 140 weight class) and Mike Reilly (ranked 1316 p4p, 183 weight class). Reilly has chosen The Whispers - Rock Steady as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cleon Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Reilly!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reilly slips a jab from Wright.
Wright throws a low kick but Reilly avoids it.
Reilly unleashes a big counter combination but Wright bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Reilly defending well as Wright loads up on a big left hand.
Wright rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Reilly counters with a nice uppercut.


It looks like Cleon Wright has been cut.
Wright smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wright fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A nice inside leg kick there by Wright. That's going to slow Reilly down.
Wright takes a swing at Reilly's ribcage but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright throws a hook but Reilly blocks it.
Wright throws a leg kick but Reilly sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Reilly tries to counter by closing the distance.
Reilly takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Reilly feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Wright's calf.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Reilly checks a leg kick.
Wright fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Reilly looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Reilly looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Wright throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reilly.
Wright throws a right and a left that Reilly avoids nicely.
Reilly lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Wright at a distance.
Wright connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Reilly momentarily.
Reilly pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Reilly throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Wright.

Wright moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reilly doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Cleon Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wright throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wright stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Wright ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Wright scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

and Reilly counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and Reilly counters by clinching up.
Reilly throws a punch but it's blocked by Wright.

Wright's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A punch lands to the side of Reilly 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wright misses with a low kick.
Reilly slips a jab from Wright.
Wright misses with a shot to the body
enabling Reilly to counter with a crisp jab.
Wright throws a leg kick which misses Reilly's front leg but catches the back leg as Reilly tries to avoid it.

It looked like Wright wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Wright digs a good body shot into Reilly's ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reilly appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Reilly raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Wright misses with a straight left.
Despite the aggression on Reilly's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Some bone on bone action there as Reilly checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Wright throws a leg kick which misses Reilly's front leg but catches the back leg as Reilly tries to avoid it.
Wright is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Reilly can do to turn this around?

Reilly has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Reilly there as he acknowledges the shot.

Wright lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Reilly sprawling to the canvas. Wright follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Reilly hang on?


Reilly is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reilly tries to get to full guard but Wright has control of the leg.
Reilly is still in real trouble! Can Wright finish him?
Wright not doing much here.
Reilly seems to have recovered his senses.

Reilly controlling the position well.
Wright stalling away here and it's allowed Reilly to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Wright slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Reilly pulls Wright in close to prevent any damage.
Reilly not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wright trying to control but Reilly is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Mike Reilly has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Wright scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Reilly doesn't seem bothered though.

and Reilly counters with a head kick that drops Wright to the mat! Wright scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Cleon Wright's cut is getting worse.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reilly stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Wright.
Wright misses with a lunging right hand
and Reilly counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

A lazy left from Wright finds it's target.
Reilly takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Reilly is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Wright rather than just go for the knockout.
Reilly checks the leg kick.
Reilly takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Reilly rushes Wright and presses him up against the ropes.
Reilly misses with the head strike.
Wright is looking to break free of the clinch but Reilly has double underhooks.
Reilly working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Reilly lands a body punch in the clinch.
Reilly lands a shoulder strike.

Wright breaks from the clinch.
Wright throws an off balance right hand

and Reilly counters by moving into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Wright's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Wright looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Reilly gets through Wright's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Still in the clinch, Reilly scores with a nice short uppercut.

Wright escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Reilly avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Wright works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Cleon Wright is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Wright getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Wright ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Reilly's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Wright connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Reilly scrambles back to his feet.
Wright uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Reilly.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wright lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wright throws a shot to the body.
It looks like Wright has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Wright throws a looping overhand right but Reilly ducks down to avoid it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cleon Wright.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wright, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
