Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roger Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carli Embid!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Embid shoots in for a takedown but Frederick shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Embid turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Frederick is looking to reverse the position.
Frederick is trying to work for a sweep but Embid has mounted him!
Frederick manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frederick trying to hold on to Embid's head to control him but Embid postures up.
Frederick is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Embid perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Frederick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Embid on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Embid stands up out of the half guard.
Frederick misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Frederick walks forward, straight into a front kick from Embid.
Frederick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Embid lands a big head kick that sends Frederick tumbling to the mat! Embid takes a step backwards and waves Frederick back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Frederick is rocked!
It looks like Roger Frederick has been cut.
Embid drives through and clinches with Frederick against the cage.
Oh Frederick is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Embid breaks from the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Embid closes the distance looking for a takedown. Embid picks Frederick up and slams him brutally to the floor. Frederick is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!
