PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Asa Boyle (ranked 4741 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Binetti (ranked 4720 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Asa Boyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonathan Binetti!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyle checks a low kick from Binetti.
Binetti swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Boyle jumps guard but Binetti stands there with Boyle around his waist. Boyle gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Binetti lands a shoulder strike.

Boyle has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Binetti clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Boyle is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boyle keeps control of the position as Binetti tries to break free.

Boyle is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Binetti has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Boyle is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Boyle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Boyle is looking for a choke. Binetti gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Binetti manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Boyle is trying to keep Binetti in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Binetti is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boyle looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Binetti content to stall in guard here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Binetti closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Boyle tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Binetti just stands there and leans against the cage.
Boyle fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Asa Boyle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Binetti lands a hook that snaps the head of Boyle backwards.

Binetti presses Boyle against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonathan Binetti dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Binetti fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Boyle checks it well.

and Boyle counters with a one-two to the body.
Jonathan Binetti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Boyle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Boyle jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Binetti walks away with a smile on his face. Boyle gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Binetti throws a low kick but Boyle avoids it.
Binetti scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boyle tries to pull guard but Binetti won't allow it.

Boyle seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Binetti is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Boyle blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Binetti tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Boyle avoids it.
Boyle tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Binetti just stands there and leans against the cage.
Boyle tries to pull guard but Binetti holds him up against the cage and eventually Boyle drops back down to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Binetti is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Boyle is defending well for now.
Binetti lands a right hand.


Boyle is rocked!
Binetti lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Boyle to his knees! Binetti keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
