Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eto Kobiyato (ranked 4766 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Escobar (ranked 4976 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eto Kobiyato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Angel Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Kobiyato works the jab nicely.
Escobar fails with the takedown.
Escobar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kobiyato throws a head kick but Escobar moves out of range.
Kobiyato is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Escobar fails with a takedown attempt.

Escobar gets a double leg takedown into Kobiyato's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kobiyato looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Kobiyato has his foot on Escobar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Escobar works his way back into a safe position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Escobar stands up and waves to Kobiyato to follow him.
Sloppy strikes from Escobar. Those never looked like landing.
Kobiyato swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Escobar.
Eto Kobiyato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Escobar looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Escobar sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Escobar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kobiyato knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Escobar on the ground.
Let's hope that Escobar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Escobar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kobiyato.
Kobiyato slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kobiyato slips a jab and a cross from Escobar.
A looping hook to the body misses from Escobar. Kobiyato does a little dance to reset his feet.
Escobar takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Decent striking displayed by Kobiyato there.
Kobiyato throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Escobar misses with a few strikes there.
Escobar moves forwards but Kobiyato connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Escobar takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kobiyato scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Kobiyato scores with a decent looking hook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Escobar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kobiyato to the mat! Kobiyato manages to get full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kobiyato is working an open guard so Escobar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Escobar takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Escobar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kobiyato's waist but Kobiyato gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Escobar off to one side.
Eto Kobiyato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Escobar.
Kobiyato connects with a good right hand that stumbles Escobar. Escobar circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Escobar misses with a takedown attempt
and Kobiyato counters with a stiff right hand.
Kobiyato connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Escobar momentarily.
Kobiyato takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Escobar has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kobiyato finds it's way round the side to connect with Escobar's head.
No joy there for Kobiyato, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Escobar swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Kobiyato getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Kobiyato throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Escobar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kobiyato throws a head kick but Escobar moves out of range.
Kobiyato works Escobar's body with a nice hook.
Kobiyato throws a nice inside leg kick.
Escobar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eto Kobiyato dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kobiyato pulls out of a head kick attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kobiyato enables Escobar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kobiyato manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kobiyato wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Escobar manages to pass to side control.


Escobar decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Kobiyato takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kobiyato cracks Escobar with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Escobar takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kobiyato with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Escobar takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Escobar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Escobar in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kobiyato is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Angel Escobar!
