Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jon Rudskogen (ranked 1412 p4p, 181 weight class) and Wilky Pierre (ranked 1451 p4p, 187 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Rudskogen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wilky Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre shoots in for a double leg but Rudskogen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pierre tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rudskogen defends well and Pierre ends up having to push Rudskogen into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pierre closes the distance looking to clinch
and Rudskogen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Pierre tries to clinch but Rudskogen moves out of range.
Rudskogen jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Pierre has managed to clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Rudskogen.
Pierre tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jon Rudskogen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilky Pierre.
Rudskogen scores with a nice hook to the head.
Pierre tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rudskogen smiles and moves away.
Rudskogen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pierre.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pierre tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rudskogen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pierre somewhat.

Rudskogen takes a swing at Pierre's ribcage but misses.
Pierre takes one on the button.

Pierre shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Pierre trying to control from half guard but Rudskogen is working away.
Pierre is looking to stall here but Rudskogen recovers full guard.
Pierre trying to control but Rudskogen is working from the bottom.
Pierre is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Pierre looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Pierre wants to control from the top but Rudskogen keeps moving.
Pierre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rudskogen is keeping the position for now.

Pierre drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pierre jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pierre trying to control the position from guard on top but Rudskogen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pierre wants to pass the guard but Rudskogen is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pierre checks a low kick from Rudskogen.
Pierre has a takedown stuffed.
Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Rudskogen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pierre shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rudskogen counters with a nice kick to the body.
Pierre dives in and grabs Rudskogen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rudskogen pushes down on Pierre's head and hops out.

Pierre gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Pierre has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rudskogen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Pierre prevents a body shot from Rudskogen.
Rudskogen prevents the takedown attempt.

Rudskogen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Pierre jumps guard but Rudskogen turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.
Rudskogen can't find room to land a body shot as Pierre controls the action.
Rudskogen tries to work over Pierre's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Pierre is working for takedown but Rudskogen is calmly controlling the position for now.
Rudskogen lands with a short shot to the head.
I was talking to Rudskogen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Rudskogen gets underhooks to prevent Pierre's takedown attempt.
Pierre looks winded!
Rudskogen works on Pierre's body with a couple of short punches.
Rudskogen prevents the takedown attempt.
Rudskogen misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Rudskogen lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Pierre jumps guard but Rudskogen stands there with Pierre around his waist. Pierre gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pierre is trying to trip Rudskogen. He has hold of a leg but Rudskogen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Pierre persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rudskogen keeping moving, preventing Pierre from controlling successfully.
Pierre tries to free his leg and advance position but Rudskogen is retaining full guard.
Pierre is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Rudskogen dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rudskogen throws a shot to the body.
Pierre chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rudskogen can pounce on him.
Pierre will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rudskogen circles away from the clinch attempt
and Rudskogen counters with a body kick.
Pierre closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Pierre tries to clinch but Rudskogen moves out of range.
Rudskogen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pierre shoots for a takedown but Rudskogen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Rudskogen misses the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pierre throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rudskogen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pierre closes the distance and clinches up with Rudskogen, looking for a takedown. Pierre pushes Rudskogen against the ropes but Rudskogen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Rudskogen on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jon Rudskogen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilky Pierre.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pierre.
Pierre is breathing heavily.
Pierre tries for a takedown but Rudskogen circles away easily
and Rudskogen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Rudskogen connects with a crisp jab.

and Rudskogen counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
