PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Fadden (ranked 5589 p4p, 486 weight class) and Donovan Meyer (ranked 3072 p4p, 353 weight class). Donovan Meyer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Fadden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donovan Meyer!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyer moves in looking to clinch but Fadden pushes him off.
Meyer cracks the inside of Fadden's front leg.
Meyer tries to clinch up but Fadden circles away and keeps his distance.
Meyer doesn't manage to clinch there - Fadden circles away.
Fadden avoids the head kick by Meyer.

Meyer takes the fight into the clinch.
Meyer tries a knee to the head but Fadden blocks it.

Meyer is fighting off a takedown attempt but Fadden is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Meyer to the mat. Meyer regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Fadden is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Fadden seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Meyer tries to kick Fadden off but Fadden keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Fadden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Meyer has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Fadden seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Meyer can turn it around.

Fadden is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Meyer to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Meyer shrugs it off.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fadden, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
