PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Murrray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Vrechi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murrray comes to the cage accompanied by Original Nuttah - Shy Fx. Vrechi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hallowed by name. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Murrray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Vrechi!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murrray throws a head kick that Vrechi semi-blocks.
Murrray misses with a double jab.
Vrechi tries to land a front kick but Murrray steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Murrray throws the left hand but Vrechi avoids the punch easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Murrray misses the target.
Murrray pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vrechi tries a head kick but it misses.
Murrray fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vrechi manages to avoid it.
Vrechi throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Vrechi moves in looking to clinch but Murrray pushes him off.
Vrechi misses with a double jab
and Murrray counters with a head kick.
Murrray staying out of range there.
Vrechi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murrray scores with a body shot.
Murrray takes a swing at Vrechi's ribcage but misses.
Vrechi throws a leg kick that is checked

and Murrray counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Vrechi down! Murrray is looking to finish but Vrechi is intelligently defending himself.


Vrechi is rocked!
Murrray wants to stand but Vrechi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Vrechi is still in real trouble! Can Murrray finish him?
Murrray thows a big elbow that misses.
Vrechi seems to have recovered his senses.
Vrechi wants to stand up but Murrray is controlling him.
Murrray wants to control from the top but Vrechi keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vrechi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Murrray.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vrechi is trying to keep Murrray in close.
Murrray is looking to stand up but Vrechi won't let him.
Murrray slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Vrechi dodges the ground and pound from Murrray.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Murrray lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Vrechi has a takedown stuffed.
Vrechi looks gassed!
Murrray dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vrechi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Murrray drops Vrechi with a left right combo! Murrray follows him down to the ground into side control.
The referee asks Murrray politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Murrray prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vrechi is looking to reverse the position.
Murrray tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Murrray trying to control the action but Vrechi is working from the bottom.
Sloppy strikes there by Murrray.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murrray remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Murrray creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Vrechi sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Murrray throws a sloppy head kick
and Vrechi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Murrray lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Vrechi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Vrechi blocks a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Murrray dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A clash of legs there as Vrechi blocks the low kick.
Vrechi closes the distance but Murrray moves to the side
and Murrray cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Vrechi tries to score with a low kick but Murrray moves his leg out of the way.
Vrechi throws a head kick that misses.
Murrray connects with the punch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Murrray.
Vrechi looks to throw a body kick
and Murrray counters with a left to the body.
Murrray takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Murrray throws a combination that misses
and Vrechi counters with an inside leg kick.
Vrechi shoots in for a takedown but Murrray shows good takedown defense.
Vrechi is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murrray scores with a jab to the body.
Vrechi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Murrray swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Vrechi counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Murrray is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Murrray tests Vrechi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Murrray scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Murrray fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vrechi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Murrray misses with an attempted mid kick.
Vrechi on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Murrray scores with a leg kick.
Murrray lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Vrechi backs up against the cage.
Lee Murrray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A nice leg kick lands there from Murrray.
Murrray thumps Vrechi with a low kick.
Murrray misses with a head kick.
Vrechi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Vrechi walks into a straight right hand from Murrray.
Murrray connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Vrechi! He's out on his feet! Murrray rushes in and drops Vrechi with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Lee Murrray!
