PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jb Brown (ranked 1201 p4p, 143 weight class) and Stojan Kostic (ranked 1020 p4p, 121 weight class). Brown comes to the cage accompanied by A lot by 21 savage/j cole. Kostic has chosen Skabo - Mare batice as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Jb Brown has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jb Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stojan Kostic!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brown closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brown lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Brown's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kostic manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brown manages to get himself to full guard.

Kostic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kostic trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
Kostic wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brown has an active guard here but Kostic has managed to pass into half guard.
Brown tries to get to full guard but Kostic has control of the leg.

Kostic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brown is just riding it out for now. Kostic eventually gives up the hold.
Brown is looking to control Kostic's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brown avoid being mounted?
Brown is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Death Valley Training Facility, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Brown throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Kostic is looking to advance position but Brown won't allow it.
Brown tries to roll over but Kostic keeps him under control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kostic is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brown doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kostic.
Brown is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Brown gets back to full guard.
Kostic trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jb Brown will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kostic shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brown shoots for a double leg takedown but Kostic sprawls well. He's pushed Brown's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A big right from Kostic misses.
Brown shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kostic pinned against the cage. Kostic gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kostic sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jb Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Kostic closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brown's guard.
Stojan Kostic has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jb Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brown escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kostic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kostic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brown isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kostic stacks Brown on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kostic!

Kostic tries for a kimura but Brown is defending well.
Brown is trying to control Kostic's posture but Kostic avoids it.

Kostic wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brown, who protects the arm well.

Kostic goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Brown rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kostic's guard! Nice work there by Brown!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kostic is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brown is looking to control Kostic's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brown avoid being mounted?

Kostic is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Brown sees it coming and defends easily.
Brown is not content to let Kostic control the position.
Jb Brown is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Stojan Kostic comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Brown has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
