Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Douglass Flores!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Skip Squint and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Flores.

Matthews has managed to clinch.

Flores is trying to trip Matthews. He has hold of a leg but Matthews is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Flores persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Matthews is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Flores will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flores makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Flores connects with a couple of short punches.
Flores really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Matthews isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Flores stacks Matthews on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Flores!
Flores has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Flores creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Matthews sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Matthews is trying to control Flores's posture but Flores avoids it.

Flores has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Nice takedown defense from Flores. No joy for Matthews on that attempt.
Matthews shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Flores as he avoids it easily.
Matthews shoots for a double leg takedown but Flores sprawls well. He's pushed Matthews's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Matthews tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Flores defends well and Matthews ends up having to push Flores into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Flores shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Matthews's guard.

Matthews has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Flores has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Flores tries to pull guard but Matthews holds him up against the cage and eventually Flores drops back down to his feet.

Matthews works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Matthews throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Flores tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Matthews is in Flores's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Flores has Matthews pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Flores pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Matthews tumbling to the mat - Flores dives into Matthews's guard.
