PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Pridel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jericho Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pridel comes to the cage accompanied by "Dream" - Dizzee Rascal. Fernandez has chosen Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacob Pridel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jericho Fernandez!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernandez sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Pridel to the ground! Fernandez dives into full mount looking to finish!


It looks like Jacob Pridel has been cut.
Fernandez controlling the position easily from mount.
Pridel throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Pridel manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Fernandez is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Pridel manages to get to full guard.

Fernandez gets to his feet - Pridel follows without any prompting.

Fernandez is looking to clinch.
Pridel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pridel is breathing heavily.
Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pridel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pridel misses with a takedown attempt - Fernandez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pridel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fernandez shoots for a takedown but Pridel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Fernandez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fernandez works Pridel's body with a nice hook.
Fernandez shoots for a double leg takedown but Pridel sprawls well. He's pushed Fernandez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Pridel counters with a low kick, right behind Fernandez 's knee.

Fernandez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pridel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Fernandez wants to hit a switch here but Pridel passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Fernandez there!

Pridel throws a knee to the head but misses.
Fernandez is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pridel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Pridel has his feet on Fernandez's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Fernandez throws a head kick but Pridel moves out of range.

Fernandez closes the distance and clinches up with Pridel, looking for a takedown. Fernandez pushes Pridel against the cage but Pridel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Fernandez counters with a two punch combo.
Pridel misses with a wild body shot.
Fernandez throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Fernandez has managed to clinch.

Pridel pulls Fernandez into guard.

Pridel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fernandez!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fernandez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pridel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacob Pridel will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Fernandez stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Pridel.
Fernandez has a takedown stuffed.
Fernandez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pridel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Fernandez tries to clinch but Pridel is having none of it.

Pridel shoots in and bounces Fernandez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pridel trying to control but Fernandez is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pridel stands and steps away. Fernandez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fernandez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No joy there for Fernandez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Fernandez forces Pridel back against the cage and clinches.
Fernandez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pridel just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jacob Pridel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jericho Fernandez.

Pridel breaks from the clinch.

Pridel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fernandez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Fernandez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Fernandez tries to bench press Pridel off him but Pridel keeps the position.

Pridel is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Fernandez's shoulder. That is not cool.

Fernandez is looking for a sweep.

Pridel decides to stand back up.
Pridel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fernandez circles away quickly and effectively.

and Pridel counters by clinching up.

Pridel turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pridel manages to end up in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fernandez can't do much from the bottom here.
Jacob Pridel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pridel scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Fernandez to see if he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fernandez wants to control but Pridel postures up.
Fernandez is trying to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacob Pridel showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Pridel has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
