PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Cahill (ranked 3313 p4p, 360 weight class) and William Scout (ranked 5994 p4p, 497 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that William Scout was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tim Cahill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Scout!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scout throws a nice looking combination but Cahill bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cahill lands a nice looking body shot.
Scout lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cahill circles away quickly and effectively.
Scout throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cahill.
Scout has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Scout drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Scout working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
You can see the frustration on Cahill's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Cahill is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Scout has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've been hearing good reports from Cahill's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Scout flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Scout working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cahill doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cahill manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cahill drops back looking for a leg! Scout is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Scout manages to kick Cahill off! Cahill jumps back into Scout's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Scout throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Cahill avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cahill postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cahill postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Scout is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cahill seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cahill wants to pass the guard but Scout is keeping the position.

Scout has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cahill can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Scout wants to sweep here but Cahill controlling him for the moment.
Scout is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Cahill closes the distance and clinches.

Cahill keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Scout's efforts to push away.

Cahill is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Scout can't fight it off and eventually Cahill manages to take the fight to the floor. Scout looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Cahill seems to be looking for submissions.
Scout is pressing down on Cahill's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Scout is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tim Cahill will probably get the nod.

Scout walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Scout looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Scout on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

enabling Cahill to counter with a crisp jab.

Scout is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cahill's half guard.
Scout thows a huge punch but Cahill dodges it nicely.

Scout is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Cahill is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
