PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Filiberto Jenkins (ranked 24790 p4p, 0 weight class) and Requis Bently (ranked 4718 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Filiberto Jenkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Requis Bently!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bently gets a double leg takedown into Jenkins's guard.
Jenkins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jenkins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jenkins manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bently manages to get himself to full guard.

Bently really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jenkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jenkins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bently works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bently wants to sweep but no luck.
Bently avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jenkins missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jenkins wanted to stand there but Bently had control of the position.
Bently is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jenkins won't allow Bently to get back to his feet.

Jenkins postures up in Bently's guard and throws a big left but Bently blocks it.
Bently tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jenkins is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jenkins throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jenkins working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bently's head.
Jenkins with a flurry of punches that miss.

Jenkins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jenkins throwing strikes from guard but Bently blocks nicely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jenkins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jenkins throws a body shot but no joy.

Bently shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bently showed some decent athleticism there.

Jenkins has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Bently is on him like a limpet, forcing Jenkins back against the cage.
Bently looks winded!

Bently gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Jenkins wants to control but Bently is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jenkins wants to improve his position but Bently is controlling well.
Jenkins is trying to maintain the position but Bently is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jenkins wants to get back to full guard but Bently has passed into side control.
Jenkins sneaks back into half guard.
Jenkins gets full guard.
Jenkins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jenkins keeping moving, preventing Bently from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jenkins is on top in guard.

Jenkins working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jenkins scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jenkins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bently works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bently looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jenkins is one step ahead there.

Jenkins stands up and waves to Bently to follow him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bently shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jenkins napping and manages to drive through into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Filiberto Jenkins dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jenkins has managed to clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Bently has picked Jenkins up - he's going for a ride! Bently dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Jenkins manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bently keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Jenkins tries to pull guard but Bently forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Bently breaks the clinch.

Bently scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Jenkins has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Bently is on him like a limpet, forcing Jenkins back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bently successfully pulls guard.
Jenkins scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jenkins chips away with some ground and pound.
Bently is breathing heavily.

Jenkins gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bently blocks a leg kick.

Jenkins forces Bently back against the cage and clinches.

Bently works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Jenkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bently can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jenkins is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bently can do to turn this around?

Jenkins is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bently rolls with it to try and escape but Jenkins cranks on the arm and Bently is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
