Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darius Dorsey (ranked 6732 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Jay (ranked 4593 p4p, 448 weight class). Darius Dorsey has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darius Dorsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Jay!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jay.
Jay lands a high kick!

Dorsey moves into the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Dorsey as Jay tries to tie him up.
Jay can't get the takedown.

Dorsey is trying to trip Jay. He has hold of a leg but Jay is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dorsey persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Jay throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dorsey escapes and throws Jay's legs to the side, diving into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dorsey lands a nice forearm strike.

Dorsey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jay is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jay bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dorsey wants to get up but he can't break Jay's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jay tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Jay working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Dorsey has passed into half guard!

Dorsey stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Jay slaps away a takedown attempt from Dorsey, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Jay darts in and clinches Dorsey up against the cage.
Dorsey goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jay prevents it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Dorsey is trying to drag Jay to the mat but Jay just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Jay obliges.
Jay is trying to pull guard but Dorsey turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jay moves into range and clinches up with Dorsey.

Dorsey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jason Jay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dorsey shoots in but Jay avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dorsey takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Dorsey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jay.

Jay shoots in for a takedown but Dorsey shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dorsey shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dorsey showed some decent athleticism there.

Dorsey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dorsey wants it to stay on the feet.
Dorsey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dorsey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dorsey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jay takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dorsey is working Jay over with some ground and pound from side control.
Jay wants to control but Dorsey postures up.
Jay is trying to get back to half guard.
Jay is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Dorsey is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Dorsey lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Dorsey is working the ground and pound. Can Jay escape?
The referee is taking a good look at Jay as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Dorsey!

Dorsey is looking for the choke from the back position but Jay is controlling his hands well.
Dorsey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dorsey is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jay knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jay for a finish.
Darius Dorsey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jay is trying to get back to his feet but Dorsey has full control of the position and if anything, Jay has just worked his way into a worse spot.
