PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Willem Korsemann (ranked 4076 p4p, 430 weight class) and Gary Ganja (ranked 5345 p4p, 488 weight class). Gary Ganja told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary Ganja!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Korsemann finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Korsemann ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

It looks like Gary Ganja has been cut.
Korsemann bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Ganja clinches.
Ganja tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Korsemann really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Korsemann seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Ganja has thrown a lot of knees so far in this fight and we're lead to believe that's something he's been working on the gym prior to this fight.

Korsemann dips a shoulder and cracks Ganja with a mighty uppercut! Ganja falls back against the cage and Korsemann unloads with a barrage of strikes! Ganja is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Korsemann screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Willem Korsemann!
