PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Ross Buchanan (ranked 15898 p4p, 440 weight class) and Kurt Shann (ranked 19641 p4p, 439 weight class). Buchanan comes to the ring accompanied by Roy Buchanan's Train Blues. Kurt Shann told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ross Buchanan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kurt Shann!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shann throws a right and a left that both miss.
Buchanan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Buchanan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shann.
It appears Buchanan was looking to counter with a kick there.
Buchanan lands with a nice body kick.
Shann throws a right and a left that both miss.
Shann throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Buchanan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Shann's knee momentarily.
Shann looks to land a combination but Buchanan avoids it well.
Buchanan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shann throws out the jab.
Shann scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Buchanan moves out of range of the strikes.
Buchanan slips a jab and a cross from Shann.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
That kick from Buchanan tenderised Shann's leg. Shann is trying to keep his angry face on.

Shann throws a right and a left that both miss.
Buchanan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Shann's sensitive parts.
Buchanan keeps Shann at a distance using the push kick.

Shann throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Buchanan slips under a jab.

Buchanan throws a half hearted mid kick.
Buchanan lets loose with a powerful body kick. Shann will feel that in the morning.
Shann throws a series of punches but Buchanan avoids them all with ease.
Shann connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Buchanan's hands.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Buchanan.
Buchanan throws a push kick but Shann slaps the foot to one side.
Shann throws a series of punches but Buchanan moves out of range.
Shann throws a right and a left that both miss.
Buchanan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shann.
A chopping leg kick lands by Buchanan.
A punch combination from Shann misses.
Buchanan fires out a quick counter leg kick but Shann just manages to avoid it.
Buchanan throws a sloppy head kick and Shann moves out of range easily.
Shann tries to bum rush Buchanan with a series of wild strikes but Buchanan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A head kick from Buchanan lands but Shann takes it in his stride.
Buchanan lands with a kick to the ribs.
Shann throws a right and a left that both miss.
Shann walks forward, straight into a front kick from Buchanan.
Shann throws a combination that misses
and Buchanan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Shann moves out of range of the body kick from Buchanan.

and Buchanan counters with a nice body kick.
Shann looks winded!

Shann has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Buchanan.
Shann falls off balance throwing a combination
and Buchanan counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Buchanan throws a head kick that half lands.
Buchanan dodges the punch combination from Shann.
Kurt Shann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Buchanan connects with a high kick.


Shann is rocked!
Look low, kick high! Buchanan uses the oldest trick in the book to send Shann tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Buchanan is absolutely delighted - when Shann wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ross Buchanan!
Our winner, Ross Buchanan, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
