The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shabalala shoots for a takedown but Perrez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Shabalala shoots in for a double leg but Perrez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Perrez stuffs the takedown.

Perrez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shabalala has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Perrez has managed to get both his arms back between Shabalala's legs - danger averted.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Perrez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
