Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Irving Nicholson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alejandro Mora!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mora tries to close the distance and clinch but Nicholson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A combination from Mora does no damage.
Nicholson looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Nice body kick there by Nicholson.
Mora throws a series of punches but Nicholson avoids them all with ease.
Nicholson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mora tests Nicholson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mora lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Irving Nicholson has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mora closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nicholson quickly recovers to half guard.
Nicholson is concentrating on defense, preventing Mora from advancing position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mora is keen to just control but Nicholson is a slippery customer.

Mora is thwarting Nicholson's attempts to control the position.
Mora trying to mount his opponent but Nicholson defends it.
Nicholson is looking to control Mora's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nicholson avoid being mounted?
Mora is looking to take a break and control but Nicholson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Mora is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nicholson defends it well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nicholson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Nicholson defending well as Mora loads up on a big left hand.
Mora will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mora is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mora tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nicholson connects with a high kick.
Mora is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nicholson.

Mora throws a combination that misses
and Nicholson counters with a body kick that stops Mora in his tracks momentarily.

Nicholson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nicholson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Nicholson has clasped his hands together around Mora's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Nicholson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mora down.
Mora is trying to control Nicholson's posture but Nicholson avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mora tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nicholson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Nicholson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mora on the ground.
Mora tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Nicholson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Mora tries to hold on but Nicholson pushes him away.
Nicholson thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Mora wants to control but Nicholson is having none of it.
Mora is desperately trying to improve his position but Nicholson has a good base and remains in mount.
Mora blocking the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Irving Nicholson will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mora swinging wildly here.
Nicholson attempts a counter takedown but Mora avoids it well and moves away.
Nicholson walks into a left hand.
Nicholson throws a sloppy head kick and Mora moves out of range easily.

Mora gets a takedown into half guard.

Nicholson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mora keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nicholson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mora uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nicholson is staying active underneath Mora, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mora is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Nicholson gets caught flat footed, as Mora shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Irving Nicholson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mora might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nicholson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Alejandro Mora showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Mora wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nicholson has him pressed against the cage.

Mora is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Nicholson throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Mora wants to control the pace but Nicholson is squirming around nicely.
Nicholson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Mora won't let Nicholson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Nicholson avoids a strike by Mora and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Mora's guard! Fantastic escape!
Mora not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mora wants to sweep here but Nicholson controlling him for the moment.

Nicholson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Nicholson throws a strike but Mora rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mora pushes down on Nicholson's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Mora is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nicholson sees it coming and defends easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alejandro Mora comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mora has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
