PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Howard Ewing (ranked 23879 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kario Rack (ranked 3845 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Howard Ewing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kario Rack!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rack stuffs the takedown.
Ewing closes the distance and clinches up with Rack, looking for a takedown. Ewing pushes Rack against the cage but Rack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rack lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Howard Ewing seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ewing goes for a double leg but Rack avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rack continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Howard Ewing. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rack slaps away a takedown attempt from Ewing, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ewing misses with a hook

and Rack counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ewing won't be happy with that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rack thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ewing misses with an elbow from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rack takes a little break here. Ewing wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Ewing throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Ewing trying to remain calm as Rack controls from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rack prevents Ewing from escaping the position.
Rack controls the position.
Rack avoids the strikes from the bottom by Ewing.
Ewing tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Ewing is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Ewing tries to buck Rack off but Rack takes his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ewing is trying to get back to his feet but Rack has full control of the position and if anything, Ewing has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Ewing wants to escape the position.

Ewing won't enjoy being in this position. Rack looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Ewing is tapping - it's over boys! Rack picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kario Rack!
