PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dux has chosen Bloodsport as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Frank Dux was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Dux!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dux fails with an attempt to clinch.
Scott dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Scott fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brian Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A jab from Scott finds it's way through Dux's defenses.
Dux throws a sloppy head kick and Scott moves out of range easily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Scott lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dux has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dux and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Scott controls from within his opponent's guard.
Dux not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Scottis looking to pass into half guard but Dux pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Dux is in guard.
Dux is fighting to break Scott's control of his arms but Scott is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Scott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Scott has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Scott wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Scott goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Scott throws a nice looking combination but Dux bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dux avoids a punch combination nicely.
No joy there for Scott, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Scott throws a head kick that misses.
Dux fails to land the takedown.
Scott connects with a jab.
Scott throws a right and a left that Dux avoids nicely.
Scott throws a series of punches but Dux avoids them all with ease.
Dux bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Scott is breathing heavily.
Dux fails with a takedown attempt.
Dux misses with a takedown attempt - Scott sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brian Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Dux.
Dux tries to land a front kick but Scott steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Dux tries to clinch but Scott is having none of it.

Scott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dux is trying desperately to improve position.

Scott looks to land a combination. Dux sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Scott scores with a crisp jab that stopped Dux in his tracks.
Scott rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dux moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Scott counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Scott slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Dux postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Scott looks a forlorn figure.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Scott keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Scott takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dux trying to control but Scott is having none of it.

Dux is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Scott is surviving well by controlling Dux's body position as best he can.
Scott tries to hold on but Dux pushes him away.
Scott tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dux fails to take his opponent's back.

Dux is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Scott can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Scott is squirming around, avoiding Dux's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dux shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scott pinned against the cage. Scott gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Dux can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Scott controls the pace.

Dux gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Scott.
Scott is trying to drag Dux to the mat but Dux just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Brian Scott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dux stalls.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dux drags the fight down to the ground.
Dux tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dux swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Scott is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frank Dux has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Scott looking to sit in guard and control but Dux gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Scott, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
