PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buck Richell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson fails to land the takedown.
Richell lands with a hook. Robertson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Robertson closes the distance and clinches up with Richell, looking for a takedown. Robertson pushes Richell against the cage but Richell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Richell, as that shot connected.
Robertson wants to clinch up but Richell keeps it at a distance.
Robertson takes a jab right on the kisser.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Richell swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Richell throws a front kick aimed at Robertson's knee but Robertson avoids it well.
A left lands for Richell.
Richell lands a really nice looking cross but Robertson seems unphased.
Robertson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Richell but Richell pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Robertson is breathing heavily.

Richell takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Richell connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Richell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Robertson to the mat! Robertson manages to get full guard.

Robertson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Richell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Robertson is proving hard to escape from.

Richell thows a big elbow that misses.
Robertson controls Richell momentarily but Richell frees himself.
Richell would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Richell is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Richell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Robertson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Richell finds it's way round the side to connect with Robertson's head.

Robertson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Richell.
Richell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Robertson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Robertson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Buck Richell dominated that round.

Robertson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Buck Richell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
