The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pfeifer gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tatum is trying to drag Pfeifer to the mat but Pfeifer just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Tatum wants a takedown but no success here.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pfeifer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Pfeifer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tatum circles away quickly and effectively.

Tatum cracks Pfeifer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Pfeifer lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pfeifer.

It looks like Jayson Tatum has been cut.

Tatum dives in for a single leg takedown but Pfeifer sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Pfeifer manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Pfeifer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Tatum is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pfeifer throws a right hand that Tatum ducks under and follows up with a left that Tatum also avoids with ease.
Pfeifer misses with a few strikes there.

Tatum shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tatum was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Pfeifer sneaks out the side door and pushes Tatum away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nice takedown defense from Pfeifer. No joy for Tatum on that attempt.
Tatum changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pfeifer tries to avoid it but Tatum manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pfeifer to the ground. Pfeifer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pfeifer is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tatum is defended easily by Pfeifer.

Tatum uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pfeifer.
Pfeifer lands with a kick to the temple. Tatum shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Tatum misses the jab.

Tatum closes the distance and clinches.
Tatum on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pfeifer goes for a small jab and connects. Now Pfeifer goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Tatum stumbles back but Pfeifer runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Tatum to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Tatum will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
