PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darius Dorsey (ranked 24446 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Rizzuto (ranked 4810 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ryan Rizzuto was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darius Dorsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Rizzuto!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rizzuto has closed the distance and engaged Dorsey in a clinch.

Dorsey tightens his grip and picks Rizzuto up, before dumping him to the ground. Rizzuto manages to land in guard.
Rizzuto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dorsey is not content to let Rizzuto control the position.

Rizzuto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dorsey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Dorsey is looking for a sweep. Rizzuto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Dorsey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rizzuto on the ground.
Rizzuto is trying to control the action in half guard but Dorsey is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Dorsey feints and as Rizzuto raises his hands in defense, Dorsey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rizzuto wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Dorsey manages to pass to side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rizzuto is trying to maintain the position but Dorsey is very close to passing his half guard.
Rizzuto regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Dorsey.

Dorsey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dorsey postures up in Rizzuto's guard and throws a big left but Rizzuto blocks it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rizzuto is on top in guard.

Dorsey looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

A close round but Ryan Rizzuto will probably get the nod.
That's time! Dorsey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rizzuto shoots for a double leg takedown but Dorsey sprawls well. He's pushed Rizzuto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rizzuto.

Dorsey seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Darius Dorsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Rizzuto.
Rizzuto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dorsey shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rizzuto's guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Rizzuto has momentary wrist control but Dorsey slips an elbow through the middle.

Rizzuto had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dorsey defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rizzuto lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dorsey is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Dorsey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rizzuto tries to free his leg and advance position but Dorsey is retaining full guard.
Dorsey looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rizzuto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dorsey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dorsey is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rizzuto shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Dorsey moves into the clinch.

Dorsey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dorsey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rizzuto.

and Dorsey counters by clinching up.
Rizzuto blocking some punches.
Dorsey is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Dorsey comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Rizzuto wants a takedown.
Rizzuto is breathing heavily.
Rizzuto fails to pull guard.

Dorsey lands a takedown into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dorsey is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Dorsey in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darius Dorsey dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Dorsey looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dorsey lands a nice short elbow.
Dorsey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rizzuto can do to turn this around?
Rizzuto trying to hold on to Dorsey's head to control him but Dorsey postures up.
Rizzuto is pressing down on Dorsey's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dorsey working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rizzuto's head.
Rizzuto tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Dorsey is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Rizzuto has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Dorsey is looking to defend but Rizzuto has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Dorsey! Rizzuto pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Dorsey taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ryan Rizzuto!
